Welcome to DBS Therapy. These Terms and Conditions outline the basis on which counselling services are provided through this website and in practice. By using this website or booking a session, you agree to the following terms.
1. General Information
DBS Therapy is the practice name of Darren Boyce-Smith, a BACP-registered Person-Centred Counsellor offering face-to-face and online counselling services in the Southampton, Eastleigh, and New Forest areas.
2. Counselling Services
Sessions are typically 50 minutes in duration and may be offered in person or online (via a secure video platform).
All sessions are conducted in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.
Counselling aims to offer a supportive, confidential, and non-judgemental space to explore personal issues, but outcomes cannot be guaranteed.
3. Appointments and Cancellations

Sessions must be booked in advance.

A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule an appointment.

Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice may be charged at the full session fee.

Repeated cancellations or non-attendance may result in the discontinuation of sessions.
4. Fees and Payment

Current session fees are listed on the website or agreed upon prior to starting therapy.

Payment is due at the time of the session (or as otherwise agreed).

Payments can be made by bank transfer, cash, or secure online payment.
5. Confidentiality
All sessions are confidential. Information shared will not be disclosed without your consent, except in circumstances where:

There is a risk of serious harm to yourself or others;

There is a legal obligation to disclose information (e.g. safeguarding concerns, terrorism, or court order).
Full details of confidentiality are discussed in the counselling agreement prior to starting therapy.
6. Online Counselling
Online sessions are delivered using secure, encrypted platforms. Clients are responsible for ensuring they have a private, safe space for sessions and a stable internet connection.
