Frequently Asked Questions
What happens in a counselling session?
Each counselling session is your time and space to talk about whatever feels important to you. I’ll listen with empathy, without judgement, and at your pace. Together, we can explore your experiences, feelings, and thoughts in a way that helps you find greater clarity and self-understanding.
What is Person-Centred Counselling?
Person-Centred Counselling is a gentle, collaborative approach based on the belief that you have the inner resources to grow and heal. My role is to provide warmth, acceptance, and understanding — creating a safe space where you can explore what’s happening for you and find your own way forward.
Is online counselling effective?
Yes — online counselling can be just as effective as meeting in person. Many people appreciate the flexibility and comfort of accessing therapy from their own home. I use secure video platforms to ensure your privacy and confidentiality, wherever you are in the UK.
Where do in-person sessions take place?
In-person sessions are available in the New Forest, Southampton, and Eastleigh areas. My counselling space is private, calm, and welcoming — designed to help you feel at ease and supported.
How long are the sessions and how often will we meet?
Each counselling session lasts 50 minutes. Most clients find that weekly sessions work best, but we can discuss what feels right for you. Consistency helps build trust and allows the process to unfold naturally.
How many sessions will I need?
That’s completely up to you. Some people come for a few weeks to focus on a specific issue, while others prefer longer-term therapy for ongoing support and personal growth. We’ll review your needs together as we go along.
How much do sessions cost?
Sessions are typically £60 per 50-minute session. I also offer a limited number of concessionary rates in certain circumstances — please feel free to ask if this might apply to you.
Is everything I share confidential?
Yes. Everything you share in counselling is treated with the utmost confidentiality and care, in line with BACP ethical guidelines and UK GDPR. The only rare exceptions are if there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or others, or if required by law — and I would always discuss this with you first whenever possible.
How do I start?
Simply get in touch using the contact form, by email, or by phone. You’re welcome to ask any questions or arrange an initial session to see if counselling feels right for you. There’s no pressure — just an opportunity to talk and take things one step at a time.
Wherever you are — in the New Forest, Southampton, Eastleigh, or anywhere in the UK — you deserve to be supported and heard.
